Little Acorns (2–3 Years)

In our Little Acorns room, we focus on the three Prime Areas of Learning, which provide the foundation for all future development.

Communication and Language

Language is at the heart of everything we do. Through play, stories, songs and meaningful conversations, we help children develop their understanding and use of language. Our staff encourage children to express themselves, extend their vocabulary and build confidence as communicators. We also value and support children’s home languages, using visual cues, gestures and close partnerships with families to ensure every child feels understood and included.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Strong relationships are central to children’s wellbeing and learning. Our nurturing staff help children develop confidence, independence and positive relationships with others. Through gentle guidance and positive behaviour support, children begin to understand their emotions, take turns, share, cooperate and develop the resilience needed for future learning.

Physical Development

Children are encouraged to be active every day through a wide range of indoor and outdoor experiences. We support the development of gross motor skills such as balance, coordination and strength, alongside fine motor skills needed for early writing. We also help children develop independence through everyday routines such as washing hands, dressing themselves, feeding themselves and toilet training.

Our aim is to provide a warm, stimulating environment where every child feels safe, valued and ready to explore, play and learn.
