Long term curriculum

Each class follows a carefully planned curriculum map that sequences learning across the year, ensuring children make progress in all seven areas of learning. Our aim is for every child to become a happy, confident and independent learner.

Our Curriculum

In Little Acorns, our curriculum is designed to nurture confident, curious and independent children who develop positive relationships and a love of learning. We recognise that children learn through everything around them – the people they interact with, the environment they explore, the routines they follow and the experiences they enjoy.

How Children Learn

  • Strong Partnerships: We work closely with parents and carers, recognising them as children’s first educators.
  • Key Person Support: Every child is supported by a key person who helps them feel safe, secure and ready to learn.
  • Learning Through Play: Child-initiated play allows children to explore their interests, while adults extend learning through questioning, modelling and support.
  • Adult-Led Learning: Planned activities build on children’s needs and interests, helping them develop knowledge and skills across all areas of learning.
  • A Rich Environment: Our indoor and outdoor spaces are carefully organised to promote independence, creativity and exploration.
  • Enhancements and Experiences: Visits, visitors, special events and additional resources enrich learning and broaden children’s experiences.

Daily Routine

Our daily routine provides a secure and flexible structure that supports children’s wellbeing, independence and learning.
