Celebrating Eid Al Fitr 2025
We had a lot of fun learning all about Ramadan in the lead up to Eid. Families donated unwanted clothes which we collected and offered to families to take. We had an Eid countdown and made Eid biscuits. We enjoyed lots of stories about Ramadan and Eid so that we could understand better. We celebrated by inviting children to come to nursery in party clothes, we decorated the classrooms, enjoyed party games and dancing and ate a feast including samosas, bread, mint dip, Eid biscuits and dates. It was delicious! A lovely mum came in to decorate the adults hands with henna. It was beautiful. The children all got to take home an Eid party bag with a gift, chocolate and a date inside.
Learning All about Lunar New Year – February 2025
We have really enjoyed learning all about how many people celebrate Lunar New Year. We had lots of interesting discussions about China and how far away it was. We learnt and experienced some of the customs and we went out on the mini bus to see the arch at Chiona Town in Liverpool.
Christmas at Chatham – 2024
We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating Christmas with our children and families. December was a busy month with a whole school trip to Santa’s Grotto at Greenacres Farm in North Wales, Christmas parties, St Hugh’s school choir performance, lots of craft activities and a visit from Father Christmas.
Our first Stay & Play of the year – WC 11th November 2024
We had a wonderful time welcoming families into our nursery to experience what learning and play looks like at Chatham Nursery School. The children loved showing their grown ups around the classrooms and what they were interested in. Miss Turner held parent workshops for families in Oak Tree room to explain how we support children’s learning. Charlotte did a demonstration of an intensive interaction so families could see what small group learning looks like in Little Acorns. We had excellent feedback from families and it was altogether a very special experience for everyone involved.
Our Trip to Calderstones Park – 23rd October 2024
This was a whole school trip together to Calderstones Park to explore nature and enjoy outdoor activities. We had a guided walk around the park, collected natural objects, fed the ducks and played in the park.
